Biography

김경민은 작가이자 동시에 세 아이의 어머니로서, 그리고 한 남자의 아내로서 생활의 주무대인 가정에서 벌어지는 일상의 모습에 그녀만의 풍부한 상상력을 덧씌워 입체적인 인물상으로 빚어냈다. 주변의 소소한 풍경과 인물을 작가적 예리한 시선으로 포착해 이를 경쾌한 조각 작품으로 표현한다.

관람객은 인물상이 펼쳐보이는 해학적 풍경 속의 주인공, 가족, 친구 또는 관객이 되는 경험을 하며 일상의 행복과 소소한 기쁨을 추구하는 작가의 의도를 공유하게 된다.

작가는 학사 졸업 직후 제 7회 MBC한국구상조각대전(1996)에서 대상을 수상하며 데뷔 초부터 그 실력을 인정받아 왔다. 현재에도 국내외 유수 갤러리에서 꾸준한 전시를 보여주고있다.

보편성과 대중성을 바탕으로 조각공원, 지하철 역사, 대학로 거리 등과 같은 공공 현장에서 종종 발견되며 국립현대미술관, MBC 방송국, 서울대학교 보라매병원등을 비롯한 주요 기관에도 영구 소장되어 있다.

Kim Kyung-min, an artist, a mother of three, and a wife of a man, created a three-dimensional figure by overlapping her own rich imagination on the daily life that takes place at home, the main stage of her life. It captures the surrounding small landscapes and characters with an artist's keen gaze and expresses them as cheerful sculptures.

Visitors experience becoming protagonists, family, friends, or audiences in the humorous landscape where the figure is unfolded and share the artist's intention to pursue daily happiness and small joy.

Immediately after graduating from her university, she won the grand prize at the 7th MBC Korean Initiative Sculpture Exhibition (1996), and has been recognized for her talent since her debut. She continues to display performances at leading galleries in Korea and abroad.

Based on its universality and popularity, her artworks are often found in public places, such as sculpture parks, subway stations, downtown main street, and Daehakro streets. They are also permanently housed in major institutions, including the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, MBC Broadcasting Station, and Seoul National University Boramae Hospital.
